About The AI Program

The AI Program is an AI-assisted learning platform from the Iowa State University Department of Computer Science — where learners write and run real code in the browser, guided by a tutor that helps them think, not one that hands over answers.

What it is

A full learning platform

Courses, enrollment, a Canvas-style gradebook, discussions, announcements, progress tracking, and certificates — a real LMS, not a chatbot.

An AI tutor that guides

On every activity, a Socratic tutor walks a hint ladder and helps learners reason toward the answer instead of handing it over — with code-aware “ask AI about my code.”

Hands-on, in the browser

Write and run real Python with no install, step through execution line by line with a visualizer, and get auto-graded exercises and projects.

For educators and learners

Built for classrooms and self-learners alike — the teacher track needs no prior coding. The flagship course prepares Iowa high-school teachers to bring AI to their students.
